Murmuration
Acrylic on Canvas
36 x 24 in
Murmuration presents a body both fragmented and collective. Black slices sweep across a glowing sky, each piece autonomous yet bound into a single formation. The effect recalls a murmuration of starlings, where many move together as one, fluid and alive in their shifting unity. The image originates from a 3D scan of a mannequin that was shattered and sliced into equal-width sections through a parametric process. Translated into paint, these layered contours echo both the fragility of a fractured body and the resilience of a shared rhythm, turning disintegration into motion and coherence.
